Analog IC Technologies for Future Wireless Systems
نویسنده
چکیده
The analog IC technology, might sound old-fashioned, is still important for the future wireless systems such as 4G cellular phone systems, broadband wireless networkings, and wireless sensor networkings. The analog features and issues of the scaled CMOS transistor, the basic issue and the technology trend for the ADC as an important building block of wires systems, and the feature of the digital RF architecture proposed recently are reviewed and discussed. Higher speed and lower power consumption are expected for low SNR systems along with the further technology scaling. However, the high SNR system is not realized easily due to a decrease of signal voltage. One of the important technology trends is the digitalization of RF signal to realize the system flexibility, robustness, area shrinking, and TAT shortening. key words: analog circuit, integrated circuit, wireless system, CMOS, analog to digital converter, radio frequency

These technologies have improved on many fronts including bandwidth, range, and power requirements. Development of new telecommunications technologies is critical. It requires many years of efforts. In order to be competitive, it is critical to establish ...
متن کاملHigh-Q Inductors on Digital VLSI CMOS
The IC market for wireless applications is characterized by a strong competition demanding low-cost products. Single-chip solutions with combined analog radio frequency (RF) and digital baseband functions are preferred since they allow the decrease of assembling costs. More and more functions are shifted into the digital part of transceivers. Due to the dominant position of complementaly metal ...
متن کاملDesign and Implementation of an All - CMOS 802 . 11 a Wireless LAN Chipset
The tremendous growth in wireless LANs has generated interest in technologies that provide higher data rates and greater system capacities. The IEEE 802.11a standard [1], based on coded OFDM modulation [2], provides nearly five times the data rate and at least 20 times the overall system capacity compared to the incumbent 802.11b wireless LAN systems [3]. This article describes the design chall...
متن کاملDirection of Wireless Access Convergence; Can Near Field Communication (NFC) Be a Member of Future Internet?
This paper gives bird’s-eye view of a variety of wireless access systems with respect to communication protocol structure. As these technologies evolve to higher datatransmission rates, there is more affinity with the Internet protocols. This observation motivates discussions of wireless access convergence in the future. For instance, communication protocols for IC-cards and RFIDs, which are qu...
متن کاملResearch Directions for Fourth Generation Wireless
Though taxonomies can be imprecise, wireless communications systems are frequently classified by generation. First generation wireless denotes voice-only analog cellular systems. Second generation wireless systems ushered in digital transmission technologies to meet the capacity demands of burgeoning voice services. The coming third generation differs from second generation systems more in the ...
